About the Top Business Credit Cards
During the depth of the credit crunch, credit card companies essentially turned their back on small business owners. They raised our interest rates, cut our credit lines and denied us credit when it was needed most. In the past few months, however, the quality of small business credit cards has improved dramatically. Credit card companies like Chase introduced Ink, a line of small business credit cards that offer either cash back or point based rewards. Capital One has also revamped many of its business credit card rewards programs. These two companies currently offer the top business credit cards with no annual fee rewards.
American Express business cards are also top notch, though there are two drawbacks. First, if you don't already have a MasterCard or Visa business card, you always run the risk of your card not being accepted. Secondly, American Express business cards do often come with hefty annual fees, so if you choose an American Express card, you should weigh the benefits of its credit card rewards program with the cost. As a general rule of thumb, it takes $10,000 of spending to earn back a $100 annual fee. If you spend a few hundred thousand dollars a year on your card, this isn't an issue, but if you only use it sporadically, a high annual fee can really eat into your rewards.
0% APR business credit card deals are another area worth close examination, particularly when it comes to balance transfers. Presently, business balance transfer offers only tend to last about 6 months while consumer 0% APR balance transfers can last 15 months or more. Thus, if you are considering a new business card for balance transfers, you may want to review consumer credit card offers to take advantage of the longer 0% interest rate periods available.
