AMERICAN AIRLINES AADVANTAGE CREDIT CARDS COMPARED
With most airline credit cards, consumers have to pony up a sizeable annual fee to earn rewards. In fact, airline specific credit cards are just about the only prime credit cards that still charge hefty annual fees. For many, the annual fee offsets the rewards value of the frequent flyer miles they earn. However, American Airlines frequent flyers can rack up AAdvantage Miles without paying a high annual fee (unless, of course, they want to.)
Citibank offers two AAdvantage MasterCards, each with its own fees, bonus miles and rewards structure. Here we'll take a look at the offers.
Both the Citi® Gold / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® and the Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® charge annual fees. However, there is a significant difference between these cards and the Bronze card. Instead of earning 1 mile for every $2 you spend, you earn 1 mile per $1 spent. This perk comes at a cost of either $50 or $85 per year depending on the card you select, although both cards charge no fee during the first year. You can compare the details of these cards below:

As you can see, the differences between these two cards are subtle. For most, a 60,000 mileage cap should be more than enough. And, while the 2,500 extra AAdvantage miles offered with the Platinum card may be appealing, is it really worth $35 more a year? Probably not.
