Editor's Review
The Chase Freedom Visa is a 1% cash back credit card that also lets cardholders earn 5% cash back in major spending categories that change four times yearly. 5% cash back can be earned on up to $1,500 of spending per quarter, which provides cardholders who take full advantage of this the ability to earn up to $240 a year in bonus cash back.
Starting off, new cardmembers who spend $500 within three months get $100 in bonus cash back, a nice perk considering it could take up to $10,000 in spending to earn a reward of this size with a 1% cash back card. New cardmembers also get a 0% intro APR on purchases for 6 months and on balance transfers for 12 months.
The main drawback to the Chase Freedom Card is that cardmembers must enroll online or by phone every three months to earn 5% cash back. The process is simple and only takes a few minutes, but if you want your rewards to run on autopilot, this can be a bit of a drawback.
