Editor's Review
The Chase Freedom Visa is a 1% cash back credit card that also lets cardholders earn 5% cash back in major spending categories that change four times yearly. 5% cash back can be earned on up to $1,500 of spending per quarter, which provides cardholders who take full advantage of this the ability to earn up to $240 a year in bonus cash back.
Starting off, new cardmembers who spend $500 within three months get $100 in bonus cash back, a nice perk considering it could take up to $10,000 in spending to earn a reward of this size with a 1% cash back card. New cardmembers also get a 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers.
The main drawback to the Chase Freedom Card is that cardmembers must enroll online or by phone every three months to earn 5% cash back. The process is simple and only takes a few minutes, but if you want your rewards to run on autopilot, this can be a bit of a drawback.
