In early 2006, the founder of SmartCreditChoices.com was searching for a credit card online. He stumbled upon a credit card comparison website that strongly recommended a credit card and, based on its advice, applied online. At the time, he knew very little about credit cards. But after he received his card in the mail and learned he had committed to paying nearly $100 in set-up fees, he was inspired to build a website that would help consumers avoid falling prey to disingenuous sites like the one he visited.
A few months later, SmartCreditChoices.com was launched. Since its inception, our founder has immersed himself in the world of credit cards. Throughout our site, his extensive knowledge of the credit card industry is not only expressed via the tips and insights he has written, but also in the careful attention he pays to which credit cards he recommends.
Unlike most credit card comparison sites, we strive to put the interests of our users first. Because of this, you'll likely find that the credit cards we recommend are vastly different than those that are prominently placed on competitor's websites. This difference is a key reason our website has been around for nearly half a decade.
